Listed buildings conservation

Listed and period buildings deteriorate through neglect, failing to maintain and ventilate the building fabric can prove to be costly. Rainwater goods and roofs are usually the cause of damage. The following list highlights most common source of water ingress:

Slipped or missing slates or tiles

Cracked or missing copings and ridge tiles

Dilapidated hanuching to chimney pots and pointing to masonry chimney stacks

Missing or degraded lead flashings, aprons and flat roofs

Perforated, degraded or blocked lead valleys and box gutters

Blocked rainwater gutters, outlets and hoppers

Hairline cracks in masonry or render. Degraded pointing, frost shattered / shaling to masonry

Decaying window frames and cills

Blocked drains

Water ingress through the building envelope is the cause of fungal growth, wet rot, infestation, florescence and probably the most invasive and detrimental-dry rot.

Select Interiors can provide a full and detailed survey of the building structure and full schedule of remedial works and costs to include any associated Consultant’s fees, along with a full project management package from Concept to Completion.
