The mechanical and electrical parts of your building are what makes it work effectively. A
building is just a shell until it’s equipped with power solutions, heating systems and utilities
installations. Nowadays, energy efficiency along with health and safety are an important part of
the process.
In terms of fit-out and build, M&E systems and services include:
1. Mechanical systems: HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, fire
suppression, and gas systems.
2. Electrical systems: Power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and security systems, data
and communications systems.
ME systems are vital for making your building a safe, comfortable and practical space for
everyone who works there.
Every Space is Different
Whatever your particular space in Manchester or the surrounding areas, our team will ensure
your mechanical and electrical needs are tailored to your requirements. During any fitout
process we design and install M&E systems and services from scratch. This means we take into
account the overall design of your building and the specific requirements of the occupants.
During a fit-out project, M&E services are integrated into the design and construction of a space,
so you won’t need to hire a separate team.
M&E services require specialist knowledge and expertise, which is why it’s important to pick an
experienced contractor like Select Interiors. The successful delivery of M&E systems and
services is a critical component of both fit-out and build projects.
During a fit-out project, there are several factors to consider from an M&E (mechanical and
electrical) perspective, including:
Building services: Your contractors must ensure that the existing building services (including
heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems) are suitable for your new
fit-out and are properly integrated into the new design.
Energy efficiency: This will ensure your building is both environmentally-friendly and cheaper
to run. The latest energy efficiency measures include lighting controls, high-efficiency heating
and cooling systems, and renewable energy sources.
Safety: All M&E systems and services must meet relevant safety and fire regulations, including
fire alarms, smoke detection systems, and emergency lighting.
Lighting: We work with you to design a lighting scheme that provides the right level and type of
light for the way you work.
Acoustics: This will ensure a comfortable environment for customers, clients and staff,
especially in areas such as conference rooms, offices, and public spaces
Accessibility: M&E systems and services need to be accessible for maintenance and repair,
and comply with accessibility standards for disabled staff or visitors.
Future-proofing: Consider future requirements and technology advancements when designing
M&E systems, so upgrades and changes are easier.
Cost: Consider the overall cost of M&E systems and services. It’s also vital to check that the
budget for the fit-out project considers the installation and cost of operations once you’re up and
running.
By considering these factors, you can ensure that the M&E systems and services in a fit-out
project are designed and installed in a way that supports the unique needs of your space.
Ultimately, it provides a comfortable, safe and efficient environment for those who use it.
As a main contractor we undertake bot the design & install of mechanical & electrical installations. We have qualified Engineers to design our schemes to integrate the M&E services
The payment for the mechanical & electrical works is usually made by the owner, operator or the tenant of the building. Sometimes landlords may fund some of the work; however, this would have to be established at the lease negotiation stage.
