With over 34 years of experience as interior designers and commercial fit-out specialists in Manchester, we transformed a former stable and light industrial unit into a versatile hospitality venue designed for corporate events, weddings and private functions. Our approach combined heritage restoration with contemporary industrial interior design, ensuring the space reflects both its architectural roots and the expectations of a premium events venue. refurbishing the King beam arrangement and the Pitch Pine flooring

The Challenge

Originally designed by Architect Roger Stephenson, the building featured a strong industrial vernacular, including a King beam arrangement and original Pitch Pine flooring. The brief required us to respect and preserve such historic features while adapting the space for the modern hospitality industry.

As an experienced hospitality interior designer in Manchester, our challenge was to:
● Introduce more natural light without compromising the building’s character
● Restore and enhance original architectural features
● Deliver a fully functional hospitality fit-out within an eight-week programme
● Create a flexible venue suitable for weddings, corporate events and large gatherings

We introduced Velux-style roof glazing with sliding shutters and black industrial track systems, increasing daylight while reinforcing the industrial aesthetic. The refurbishment carefully restored the King beam structure and retained the original flooring to honour the building’s heritage.

The design concept was led by the building’s industrial history. Rather than imposing a contrasting style, our commercial interior design team developed a scheme that worked in harmony with the original architecture.

Key considerations included:

1. Heritage Preservation: The King beam arrangement and Pitch Pine flooring were carefully restored to retain authenticity and structural integrity.

2. Industrial Aesthetic: Black steel tracks, sliding shutters and exposed features reinforced the industrial interior design language.

3. Natural Light Integration: Roof glazing was introduced to enhance ambience and improve the guest experience.

4. Bespoke Craftsmanship: All joinery, fabrication and counters were custom- designed and manufactured to suit the venue’s operational needs.
