To design & refurbish 8,500 sqft. Of basement offices, kitchen, and W.C.s and to create an agile creative space for a ‘rent by desk’ model for creatives and a facility which includes shower, meetings rooms and high table collaborative space.

The Challenges

The rear space was damp, like a warren of W.C.s and Kitchen, there was a concealed goods lift, and the drains required replacing. We worked closely with the Landlords to make the best of the footprint and to accommodate the workspace, separate offices and phone booth / quiet space, kitchen breakout, IT room and shower / W.C.s.

Scope of Works

The design and office space planning was submitted to Building Control and the programme period was 12 weeks. Scope of works: Demolition, structural works, structural waterproofing, drainage, partitioning, crittall glazing, plumbing, mechanical, heat recovery, ventilation, LED lighting, joinery, ceramic tiling, polished concrete floors and carpet tiles

Interior Design

The Grade II Listed basement is utilised as a shared resource for the upper floor tenants, the shower, meeting rooms and kitchen / breakout and there are desks to rent on flexible terms

The reception fit out design by Architects Tim Groom Associates and Youth Studio embodies a profound respect and understanding of the differing relationships between the materials / palette. Aluminium, steel, masonry, brickwork, reclaimed and new Oak, marble, soft wool boucle & woven fabrics. The design prioritised authenticity over embellishment and the Truth of Materials ethos from the Bauhaus movement

Overview

The scheme in Manchester’s very own Venice, Castlefield is in the cornerstone of the whole estate which comprises of period offices, bars, restaurants, and leisure facilities. The 1st impression for any building is the reception, this handsome space incorporated basement communal workspace, communal boardroom, informal and formal meeting space with Crittall glazing and slim-line sliding screens.

Scope of Works

Demolition, bespoke Aluminium curtain walling, Crittall glazing, bespoke Oak reception desk, high table, service bar, full height cladding. The workshop joinery was manufactured in solid and veneered crown cut Oak with stone ‘wrap over & in-set’ stone tops. Plaster finishes, sheer curtains, upholstery, signage, plumbing, electrical and lighting.

The reception fit out works were completed over an 8-week programme. The cast iron period radiators, sophisticated LED lighting, materials used complement the space & the integrity of the original Architect, Roger Stephenson’s vision

Here at Select Interiors, a trusted partner and one of the leading fit-out companies in Manchester, we were invited once again to bring their expertise in office interior design to life. This marks the seventh office we’ve delivered for Time Recruitment:a testament to an enduring relationship and their team’s trust in our ability to design and deliver high- performing commercial interiors.

Overview

Creating a headquarters that supports Time Recruitment’s evolving work culture meant designing a space that blends flexibility, functionality and brand personality. The brief required:

Executive offices, A formal boardroom, Private acoustic booths, Two collaborative workspaces, A breakout area and games zone

Our process started with a full interior design consultation and workplace strategy review. We took the time to understand how different departments operate, how teams collaborate and what environmental changes could increase productivity.

From this, our interior designers in Manchester developed detailed 2D plans and 3D visualisations that helped stakeholders visualise the design before work began.

By ensuring the design reflected Time Recruitment’s brand values and team needs, we guaranteed the new HQ not only functions smoothly day to day but also reflects a modern, people-first employer.

Scope of Works

The office refurbishment involved a full strip-out and reconfiguration of the interior. Our in-house team managed every stage of the commercial fit-out, including:

● Mechanical, electrical and HVAC installations
● Structured data and lighting systems
● Partitioning and crittall glazing
● Bespoke joinery for acoustic booths and work zones
● Decoration throughout with brand-aligned finishes
● LVT flooring and carpet tiles, with rug detail in the boardroom
● Branded signage and wayfinding
● Ergonomic desks, storage units and breakout furniture
● Steel box-section shelving and display dividers

Every feature was chosen for performance and visual impact. We used durable, commercial-grade materials suited to busy offices without compromising on style or warmth.

Interior Design

From the outset, our office interior design contractors approached this project with a focus on agile working. The office was zoned to enable both quiet, focused work and open collaboration.

Acoustic booths provide soundproofed spaces for private calls or solo work, while open-plan collaboration areas encourage team discussions and informal meetings. The games and breakout zones promote employee wellbeing and support Time Recruitment’s culture of energy and ambition.

The bespoke interior design also reflected the client’s branding, incorporating colours, finishes and signage aligned with their visual identity. This was key to reinforcing a sense of belonging and professionalism across the space.

The Fit-Out

Delivered in central Manchester, this commercial office fit-out was managed end-to-end by Select Interiors’ in-house team. From technical services like HVAC and data to aesthetic finishes, we coordinated every trade to ensure smooth delivery and minimal disruption.

All bespoke joinery was crafted at our Manchester workshop, allowing us to maintain quality control and speedy results. Our hands-on approach meant directors could visit and approve finishes and fittings before final installation.

As experienced office interior design contractors, we understand that a fit-out is more than just furniture and flooring: it’s about creating spaces that work. That’s exactly what we delivered.

Outcome

Time Recruitment now operates from a vibrant, functional headquarters that supports the way they work today, and tomorrow. Cucumber Recruitment invested in their own building to escape rental pressures and create a workspace tailored to their operations. Select Interiors delivered a full design and build office fit-out that transformed a neglected Edwardian property into modern, efficient recruitment headquarters.

Overview

This three storey double-fronted Edwardian building in Urmston was in poor condition. Damp cellars, collapsing plaster and a structure which was visibly deteriorating meant the space needed a full turnkey solution.

Select Interiors provided a complete office refurbishment in Manchester that aligned with the client’s ambitions to create a long-term base. The project demanded careful planning, strong communication and a flexible approach since hidden issues became visible during strip-out.

Working within the recruitment sector meant creating a workplace that is welcoming, efficient and aligned with their brand, while supporting a busy team and frequent visitors.

Scope of Works

● Full office interior design package with 2D layouts and 3D modelling
● Submission of drawings and management of Building Control approvals
● Structural and mechanical engineer designs
● Extensive demolition and strip-out of damaged internal elements

Every detail was coordinated by our team, ensuring a smooth process that reflects the standard expected from leading fit-out companies in Manchester.

Interior Design

The building had been vacant for years, and once demolition began, most of the existing plaster fell away because of issues with water ingress and prolonged humidity. Our office interior design team reassessed the original scope, reviewed budgets and developed solutions that protected the design intent.

Walls and ceilings were fully hacked off, lined and finished. Bespoke joinery and commercial bespoke furniture were refined to work within the updated structure. The result is a contemporary workspace design that blends character with clean, modern lines.

The Office Fit Out

Mechanical, electrical and structural works progressed alongside interior upgrades to future-proof the building. Our commercial interior design team managed the programme from planning to completion, ensuring the refurbished office met the client’s operational needs.

The final install included bespoke banquette seating, acoustic partitions, integrated branding services and ergonomic furniture. Every choice supported it as a comfortable space with an effective workflow, which reflected the company’s identity.

Outcome

Our transformation delivered a fresh, practical and inspiring workplace. The recruitment team at Cucumber now operate from a secure base with an interior built to last. The refurbished space supports the wellbeing of their staff, enhances efficiency and presents a professional environment for clients and candidates.

Select Interiors was proud to be appointed as the office fit-out contractors to deliver a full Cat B office fit-out within The Old Post Office on Newton Street, Manchester. Working closely with the landlord and design team, we transformed a shell space into a striking, functional office tailored specifically for a modern creative agency.

The Challenge

The project began as a landlord-led shell and core refurbishment. The brief was to create a highly functional office fit-out while working within the constraints of a heritage building and limited structural load capacity.

One of the key challenges was introducing additional floor space without overloading the existing slab. This required a bespoke structural solution, alongside careful coordination between our commercial interior designers, mechanical contractor and electrical contractor to ensure performance, safety and compliance.

The build and refurbishment phase was completed in just 12 weeks, setting the foundation for a tailored office interior design that aligned with Manchester’s Finest’s brand and working style.

Scope of Works

As a specialist in commercial fit out Manchester projects, Select Interiors delivered a comprehensive package of works, including:

Demolition and enabling works
Underfloor heating and thick structural insulation
Bespoke lightweight mezzanine floors designed to minimise structural load
Toughened glass balustrades to maximise light flow

The office interior design was reimagined by Sam Tucker and delivered by Select Interiors as a complete Cat B fit-out. The design balances industrial elements with refined detailing, reflecting both the character of the building and the energy of the brand.

Key considerations included:

Structural Constraints: Lightweight mezzanine floors were engineered specifically to work within the building’s limited load capacity while increasing usable floor area.
Acoustic Performance: Acoustic partitions were introduced to control sound without compromising openness or natural light.
Brand & Identity: The space was designed to complement Manchester’s Finest’s visual identity, with materials and finishes that support future branding services and content creation.

As experienced office fit-out contractors in Manchester, we ensured every detail aligned with the client’s operational needs and long-term growth.

The Fit-Out Process

Our process began with a detailed site survey and coordination with the landlord team. We then worked closely with the designers and client to deliver a fully integrated commercial office fit-out.

Overview

To design & fit out an agile workplace to include oversized bespoke desks and 12 number microenvironments for the creatives to work within the 2,300sqft footprint. and formal meeting space with Crittall glazing and slim-line sliding screens.

Scope of Works

Design, 3D modelling, Building Control application, joinery, partitions, acoustic double glazed Crittall screens, acoustic cladding, mechanical, electrical, fire strategy and all the furniture, desks, and storage LDA Architects foster a creative culture. The whole LDA Manchester team had a say in the design process and we at Select Interiors enjoyed the collaborative ping pong between the creatives.

Interior Design

The collaboration / printer unit was built by our craftsmen in situ. Our specialist spray team hand finished all the units. The joinery / craft works were carried out on site due to limited access down a rear Fire Escape. The creators team worked over five weeks to create the Boardroom with acoustic double glazed Crittall style glazing and Oak acoustic cladding, the multi-purpose meeting pod, storage unit, shelving, and high table. and formal meeting space with Crittall glazing and slim-line sliding screens.

The brief was to install a kitchen / breakout, server room and to create open plan space for 20 staff to include informal seating / reception and collaboration space.

Scope of Works

Demolition, plywood overlay, large format LVT tiles, mechanical, electrical, data and LED lineal lighting.

Select Interiors Creators + Makers then carried out a further phase of electrical & lighting works for the Landlords Castlefield Estates, continual lineal LED lighting and pendants on separate switching & circuits

Interior Design

We reused and remodelled and moved the bespoke joinery we had manufactured and fitted out their previous offices. The bespoke shelving and storage were built on site from Birch faced plywood, the large, fitted storage was ‘hacked’ Ikea wardrobes and we added gables and pelmet to give a fully fitted look. We installed raw galvanised metal clad sockets and containment with sating Black sockets installed within fitted shelving units to distribute power to desks as the unit did not have computer access flooring.

Workspace Design For Health and Wellbeing

This was an office design project for Orcha for their new UK headquarters in Manchester.

The brief was to create a combination hybrid and agile activity-based workspace for their core team. The focus was to accommodate as many flexible working areas as possible within the footprint. We worked collaboratively with the Orcha senior team to develop their basic layout drawing to a working scheme using CAD, 3D, and Revit modelling.

Overview

We had the luxury of having plenty of space available, and were able to incorporate an expansion plan to accommodate extra staff who typically work from home, when they require workspace back in the office.

Scope of Works

The scope of works included full design drawings, submission to building control, mechanical, air conditioning, electrical, acoustic partitions, acoustic glass and aluminium screens, bespoke concertina opening doors, kitchens, joinery, data, lighting, desks, furniture, and storage.

We were able to incorporate so much into the space including; a boardroom/formal meeting area for 18, which had the flexibility to open out and accommodate 24 for larger meetings and conferences. A small creative office for 6 with a circular table and scribble walls. A quiet calls space with 3 phone booths. An informal open plan meeting/planning space with soft seating. High table collaborative areas, desks for 32 staff. A bespoke bleacher seating presentation and staff development area for 48 people and a café/breakout area and an informal reception.

Interior Design

The design used a pastel palette, which incorporated a core 9 soft tone colours on the walls and in the fabrics used on the bespoke seating. The floor finishes reflected the ‘resimercial’ theme using large format acoustic warm concrete and oversized Wharfside Ash in the breakout/café. Carpet tiles from Tarkett in 3 colours blended into each other across the floorplate. Junction strips were formed into radii to soften the geometry. Finishing touches included natural waxed oak cladding, bespoke signage and plenty of planting. and formal meeting space with Crittall glazing and slim-line sliding screens.

The Office Fit Out

The design, layout, and features of Orcha’s new office design represent a really successful collaboration between Orcha and ourselves. The design palette, scope of works and incorporation of flexible working areas into the office space were all well-executed, creating a modern and functional workspace.
