Office

The brief was to create a combination hybrid and agile activity-based workspace for their core team. The focus was to accommodate as many flexible working areas as possible within the footprint. We worked collaboratively with the Orcha senior team to develop their basic layout drawing to a working scheme using CAD, 3D, and Revit modelling.

Overview

We had the luxury of having plenty of space available, and were able to incorporate an expansion plan to accommodate extra staff who typically work from home, when they require workspace back in the office.

10 Top Design Tips: Managing Office Space Acoustics

Scope of Works

The scope of works included full design drawings, submission to building control, mechanical, air conditioning, electrical, acoustic partitions, acoustic glass and aluminium screens, bespoke concertina opening doors, kitchens, joinery, data, lighting, desks, furniture, and storage.

We were able to incorporate so much into the space including; a boardroom/formal meeting area for 18, which had the flexibility to open out and accommodate 24 for larger meetings and conferences. A small creative office for 6 with a circular table and scribble walls. A quiet calls space with 3 phone booths. An informal open plan meeting/planning space with soft seating. High table collaborative areas, desks for 32 staff. A bespoke bleacher seating presentation and staff development area for 48 people and a café/breakout area and an informal reception.

Interior Design

The design used a pastel palette, which incorporated a core 9 soft tone colours on the walls and in the fabrics used on the bespoke seating. The floor finishes reflected the ‘resimercial’ theme using large format acoustic warm concrete and oversized Wharfside Ash in the breakout/café. Carpet tiles from Tarkett in 3 colours blended into each other across the floorplate. Junction strips were formed into radii to soften the geometry. Finishing touches included natural waxed oak cladding, bespoke signage and plenty of planting. and formal meeting space with Crittall glazing and slim-line sliding screens.

The Office Fit Out

The design, layout, and features of Orcha’s new office design represent a really successful collaboration between Orcha and ourselves. The design palette, scope of works and incorporation of flexible working areas into the office space were all well-executed, creating a modern and functional workspace.

Carl's thoughts

“Our fit-out for Orcha Health integrated sensory design principles, creating a workspace that stimulates touch, sight, and sound to boost employee engagement and productivity.”

The project for VuFold in Macclesfield was for a retail fit out and Cat B fit out of the core shell. Part way through the completion of the build the main contractor went into administration, and we undertook the completion of the Cat A shell works including: Dry lining, screed, plaster finishes, electrical, mechanical, ventilation, partitioning, joinery to enable us to start the fit out

Overview

Design Concept and Inspiration: was the building’s distinctive architecture, featuring a triangular jutting steel cladding detail with an external balcony. The internal space was angled like a squeezed trapezium and the roof to 1st floor was pitched into the gable. The unique footprint and angled soffits added to the building’s architectural appeal in conjunction with the extensive display of products made the internal design & fit out an exciting jigsaw puzzle and poser for our team of Creators + Makers. The finishes were carefully selected, use of an earthy palette and natural timber, fabrics, wool boucle, and rugs to give an organic backdrop to the main show, the Products

Customer Journey Phases

1. Awareness: The customer is drawn in by the showroom’s design and visual appeal. 2. Exploration: They begin to explore different zones based on product displays and interaction points. 3. Engagement: The customer interacts with products, tests features, open the doors / windows. 4. Decision Making: As they move through, they start comparing products or asking questions to sales staff.

At the exit is a lounge style soft seating, ambient lighting, and customer consultation area with sales literature and soon to be a film reel on wall mounted screens. The film will illustrate the whole process from enquiry to site visit, then the manufacturing process through to the install team with satisfied clients and a happy handshake!
