Designed for a youthful, creative workforce and the clients they inspire, the scheme embraces a refined, deconstructivist aesthetic where restraint is a key ingredient. Raw architectural elements polished concrete floors and a muted, tonal palette create a calm backdrop that allows fashion, creativity and collaboration to take centre stage

Overview

The brief centred on creating an environment that felt more like a boutique hotel or contemporary fashion destination than a traditional office.

Visitors arrive into an impressive reception featuring informal lounge seating, a dedicated photography and lifestyle studio, multiple collaboration areas, executive offices, breakout spaces and an expansive fashion showroom

A dramatic double-height reception creates visual impact throughout the building, complemented by a glazed gallery balcony overlooking the entrance space from the first floor.

The upper floor continues the showroom experience with further exhibition areas, flexible meeting rooms, collaborative workspaces and modern staff facilities including showers, vanity areas and breakout spaces

Interior Design

Youth Studio’s architectural vision was centred around a contemporary industrial aesthetic that reflects the confidence and creativity of the fashion industry.

A restrained palette of dark finishes, polished concrete flooring, architectural lighting, acoustic treatments and bespoke joinery creates an environment that feels sophisticated, contemporary and effortlessly stylish.

The interiors deliberately allow the fashion collections themselves to become the focal point, while carefully selected materials provide warmth, texture and longevity throughout the workspace.

Natural light, open sightlines and carefully planned collaborative areas encourage interaction between departments whilst maintaining distinct spaces for focused working, presentations and client meetings.

22 Lever Street

Office

22 Lever Street is a Grade II Listed basement office space in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Select Interiors was appointed to design and refurbish 8,500 sq ft of basement offices, kitchen facilities, W.C.s, shower rooms and shared workspace. The brief was to create an attractive space for a flexible ‘rent by desk’ model, supporting creatives, start-ups and businesses looking for adaptable office space in the city centre.

As experienced office refurbishment contractors in Manchester, Select Interiors delivered a full office fit out that balanced practical planning, sensitivity to the heritage of the building and industrial interior design. The result is a flexible environment with meeting rooms, collaborative areas, quiet spaces, breakout facilities and desks available on flexible terms. With over 34 years of experience as interior designers in Manchester, our team understands how to transform challenging commercial spaces into functional, attractive and commercially viable workplaces.

The Challenges: Creating a Flexible Office in a Grade II Listed Basement

The existing basement presented a number of challenges. The rear space was damp and difficult to navigate, with a warren-like arrangement of W.C.s and kitchen areas. There was also a concealed lift for goods, drainage issues and a footprint that needed to work much harder for the client’s flexible desk rental model.

Working closely with the landlords, we developed an office space planning solution that made the best use of the available footprint while improving comfort, circulation and usability.

The finished scheme includes open-plan desk space, separate offices, phone booth-style quiet areas, meeting rooms, a high-table collaborative zone, IT room, shower facilities, W.C.s and a kitchen breakout space.

Office Interior Design Solutions for 22 Lever Street

The office interior design for 22 Lever Street was shaped around flexibility, durability and character. The basement needed to serve several different types of users, from individuals renting a desk to small teams needing meeting space, private offices or quiet areas.

Key considerations included:

  1. Flexible Workspace Planning
  2. Collaborative Working
  3. Industrial Interior Design
  4. Improved Facilities
  5. Heritage Sensitivity

As one of the experienced commercial interior design companies in Manchester, our role was to create a workplace that looked distinctive while also supporting the client’s commercial model.

The Office Refurbishment Process

Our process began with a detailed review of the existing basement, including its damp issues, drainage requirements, concealed goods lift and fragmented internal layout. From there, we developed a practical office refurbishment scheme that made better use of the available footprint.

The office space planning was designed to accommodate flexible desk rental, separate offices, meeting facilities, quiet areas, kitchen breakout space, IT provision and improved washroom facilities.

Building Control submissions were prepared before the 12-week programme began. Once on site, our team coordinated the demolition, structural works, waterproofing, drainage, partitioning, mechanical services, ventilation, lighting, joinery and finishes.

Carl's thoughts

“We believe good design doesn’t just look great, it supports your business model. At Lever Street, a ‘rent-by-desk’ scheme demanded spaces that adapt; meetings, collaboration, quiet zones—all seamlessly integrated.”

Time Recruitment HQ

Office

Here at Select Interiors, a trusted partner and one of the leading fit-out companies in Manchester, we were invited once again to bring their expertise in office interior design to life. This marks the seventh office we’ve delivered for Time Recruitment:a testament to an enduring relationship and their team’s trust in our ability to design and deliver high- performing commercial interiors.

Overview

Creating a headquarters that supports Time Recruitment’s evolving work culture meant designing a space that blends flexibility, functionality and brand personality. The brief required:

Executive offices, A formal boardroom, Private acoustic booths, Two collaborative workspaces, A breakout area and games zone

Our process started with a full interior design consultation and workplace strategy review. We took the time to understand how different departments operate, how teams collaborate and what environmental changes could increase productivity.

From this, our interior designers in Manchester developed detailed 2D plans and 3D visualisations that helped stakeholders visualise the design before work began.

By ensuring the design reflected Time Recruitment’s brand values and team needs, we guaranteed the new HQ not only functions smoothly day to day but also reflects a modern, people-first employer.

Scope of Works

The office refurbishment involved a full strip-out and reconfiguration of the interior. Our in-house team managed every stage of the commercial fit-out, including:

● Mechanical, electrical and HVAC installations
● Structured data and lighting systems
● Partitioning and crittall glazing
● Bespoke joinery for acoustic booths and work zones
● Decoration throughout with brand-aligned finishes
● LVT flooring and carpet tiles, with rug detail in the boardroom
● Branded signage and wayfinding
● Ergonomic desks, storage units and breakout furniture
● Steel box-section shelving and display dividers

Every feature was chosen for performance and visual impact. We used durable, commercial-grade materials suited to busy offices without compromising on style or warmth.

Interior Design

From the outset, our office interior design contractors approached this project with a focus on agile working. The office was zoned to enable both quiet, focused work and open collaboration.

Acoustic booths provide soundproofed spaces for private calls or solo work, while open-plan collaboration areas encourage team discussions and informal meetings. The games and breakout zones promote employee wellbeing and support Time Recruitment’s culture of energy and ambition.

The bespoke interior design also reflected the client’s branding, incorporating colours, finishes and signage aligned with their visual identity. This was key to reinforcing a sense of belonging and professionalism across the space.

Cucumber Recruitment invested in their own building to escape rental pressures and create a workspace tailored to their operations. Select Interiors delivered a full design and build office fit-out that transformed a neglected Edwardian property into modern, efficient recruitment headquarters.

Overview

This three storey double-fronted Edwardian building in Urmston was in poor condition. Damp cellars, collapsing plaster and a structure which was visibly deteriorating meant the space needed a full turnkey solution.

Select Interiors provided a complete office refurbishment in Manchester that aligned with the client’s ambitions to create a long-term base. The project demanded careful planning, strong communication and a flexible approach since hidden issues became visible during strip-out.

Working within the recruitment sector meant creating a workplace that is welcoming, efficient and aligned with their brand, while supporting a busy team and frequent visitors.

Manchester's Finest

Select Interiors was proud to be appointed as the office fit-out contractors to deliver a full Cat B office fit-out within The Old Post Office on Newton Street, Manchester. Working closely with the landlord and design team, we transformed a shell space into a striking, functional office tailored specifically for a modern creative agency.

The Challenge

The project began as a landlord-led shell and core refurbishment. The brief was to create a highly functional office fit-out while working within the constraints of a heritage building and limited structural load capacity.

One of the key challenges was introducing additional floor space without overloading the existing slab. This required a bespoke structural solution, alongside careful coordination between our commercial interior designers, mechanical contractor and electrical contractor to ensure performance, safety and compliance.

The build and refurbishment phase was completed in just 12 weeks, setting the foundation for a tailored office interior design that aligned with Manchester’s Finest’s brand and working style.

How to create an agile workplace and adopt the ethos
The Benefit of Commercial Interior Design in Enhancing Company Culture and Productivity

Office Interior Design Solutions for LDA Architects

The design focused on enabling collaboration and flexibility. Every element of the office fit-out was tailored to support the daily needs of LDA’s team.

Key design features included:

  1. Agile Working Environments: Twelve microenvironments were created to support different tasks, from focused work to collaboration.
  2. Bespoke Furniture Design: Oversized desks and integrated storage were custom-built to suit the workflow of architects and designers.
  3. Acoustic Performance: Acoustic cladding and double-glazed partitions ensured sound control across open and enclosed spaces.
  4. Crittall-Style Meeting Spaces: Formal meeting areas were defined using slimline glazing systems, balancing openness with privacy.

As commercial interior designers, our approach ensured that functionality, aesthetics and performance were aligned throughout the project.

The Fit-Out Process

The project was highly collaborative from the outset. LDA’s internal team played an active role in shaping the design, creating a strong dialogue between client and contractor throughout the office refurbishment.

Due to restricted site access via a rear fire escape, much of the joinery and craftsmanship was completed in situ. Our specialist teams worked on-site over a five-week period to construct key elements, including:

  • A bespoke boardroom with acoustic oak cladding and Crittall-style glazing
  • A multi-purpose meeting pod
  • Integrated storage units and shelving
  • A custom-built collaboration and printer hub

All joinery was hand-finished by our specialist spray team, ensuring a high-quality finish across every detail.

Office Interior Design Solutions for Orcha Health

The interior design scheme used a pastel palette built around nine soft tones across the walls, fabrics and bespoke seating. This gave the office a calm, warm and approachable feel.

The finishes of the floor supported the resimercial (residential meets commercial) theme. We combined durability with a softer, more domestic look. Large-format acoustic warm concrete finishes were used alongside oversized Wharfside Ash in the breakout and café area.

Tarkett carpet tiles in three colours were blended across the floorplate, with junction strips formed into radii to soften the geometry of the space.

Finishing touches included natural waxed oak cladding, bespoke signage, planting, Crittall-style glazing and slim-line sliding screens. These details helped create a polished and cohesive workspace that’s practical, comfortable and full of personality.

As office interior design contractors, our focus was on making sure every finish worked practically while contributing to the overall look and feel of the space.

The Office Fit Out

The Orcha Health office fit out was delivered through close collaboration between the client, our design team and our specialist contractors.

We began by developing the client’s initial layout into a fully coordinated design using CAD, 3D visuals and Revit modelling. This allowed the team to understand how each area would work, how services would be integrated and how the flexible spaces would connect across the floorplate.

The fit-out process involved careful coordination of building control requirements, mechanical services, air conditioning, electrical works, data, acoustic partitions, glazing, joinery, furniture and lighting.

Because the office needed to support hybrid work, team collaboration, formal meetings and future growth, every area had to be planned with long-term flexibility in mind.

As experienced office refurbishment contractors and commercial fit out specialists, Select Interiors managed the project from design through to completion, ensuring the finished workplace was practical, attractive and ready for everyday use.
